Captain Moody, pilot in a million.

CAPTAIN ERIC MOODY

Through his shear guts and dogged determination Captain Eric Moody saved both our lives (and the lives of many others) on that fateful night of the 24th June 1982.

We later enjoyed meeting Eric again at the numerous reunion meetings of the Galunggung Gliding Club in Auckland.   The more we learned of our incident the more we realised that we were extremely lucky to survive.

Thank you Eric for a most difficult job extremely well done, and for your famous quote:-

            “…..We have a small problem…..”

Following the 40th anniversary of BA009 flight we contacted Eric to let him know we had not forgotten his valiant efforts on our behalf a full 40 years before.   I received a very welcome reply from Eric who was celebrating his wife’s birthday in Buenos Aires.

So once again, we remain eternally grateful.
Thank you, Eric.
