I used to fly as Eric s Co Pilot quite a lot on the B747 400 back in around 1991.   He immediately made it clear to me that he was my friend and we hit it off from the start. A great guy to converse with on any subject under the sun. At one time he helped me in his capacity with BALPA at the HQ. He was very even handed, sympathetic and helpful.

We became quite close friends and he and wife came to our house in Caterham, Surrey for a dinner invitation once. He was concerned what the dress code should be !!

Much later as my career progressed as a Captain he was always interested in my anecdotes and stories telling me about his son s  flying in BA.

A great guy who will be sadly missed.
